Pink Amethyst is a stone of feminine energy, releasing, and self-love. Also called Rose Amethyst, it's a very new addition to the crystal community, only being found in 2019 in Patagonia, Argentina. After much research from gemologists and other scientists, it has been determined that Pink Amethyst is closer to Amethyst than any other mineral, even Rose Quartz, another pink Quartz. However, unlike other Amethyst, Pink Amethyst's true meaning and place in history is still being discovered, so many people accept that it embodies the statement "the best is yet to come", meaning there's so much left to discover, and that there will always be more wonderful things to learn about and explore [3].

Since its discovery in 2019, Pink Amethyst can only naturally be found in it's place of origin: Patagonia, Argentina, with the biggest deposits being around El Chiquada mine. Because of its rarity and newness to the community, beware of fakes.

Appearance of Pink Amethyst

Chemical Formula: SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide) + Fe2O3 (Hematite inclusions)

Mohs Hardness: 7

Colors: Pink, Peach, Coral, Blush, Rose, Rouge, Raspberry

Pink Amethyst has similar growth patterns to other Amethyst, especially being found in geodes, and gets its pink color from Hematite inclusions. Because of these inclusions, its color can be pretty uneven, which is especially seen in cut forms of Pink Amethyst like obelisks.

NOTE: Being a Quartz, Pink Amethyst should be fairly durable, however, because of its Hematite inclusions, it may not be safe in prolonged exposure to water, salt, or UV rays from the sun [4].

Healing Properties of Pink Amethyst

Calmness, Feminine Energy, Grounding, Healing, Nurture, Psychic Ability, Release, Self-Love

Metaphysically, Pink Amethyst connects us with our feminine energy. More feminine than other Amethyst, it can bring a gentle, healing aura to surround you and your environment with love. This can create a bubble of positivity to help you release negativity, including negative energies, entities, and nightmares, and can protect you from them once they're gone. Like other Amethyst, it can also increase intuition and psychic abilities, however, with the traces of Hematite, it is more grounding and can let you connect deeply with yourself while meditating. It may also ease sleep and encourage lucid dreaming.

Emotionally and mentally, Pink Amethyst calms and comforts the mind. It can bring balance, clarity, and compassion to relieve stress in overwhelming situations. By teaching us how to soothe the soul and reminding us to be gentle with ourselves, its motherly energy can help us release negative thoughts and empower us to thrive under pressure.

Physically, Pink Amethyst is the same as other Amethyst. It is believed that it can generally relieve all physical pain and stress in the body, including headaches, tension, bruising, and swelling. It may also purify the body of toxins and boost hormone production, metabolism, and immune systems.

Crystal Pairings

Larvikite, an igneous rock made of Feldspar, brings balance to Pink Amethyst. Having similar properties, elegance, and connection to divine feminine energy, Larvikite also connects to divine masculine energy, bringing a different type of protection and personal power. They work as a symbiotic pair, with Pink Amethyst helping us change our negative patterns to take care of ourselves, and Larvikite helping us accept this change while protection us through our transformation. Together, they can empower us to love and express ourselves, let go of things that no longer serve us, and take control of our lives for our own good instead of just living to please everyone else.

If you are looking to specifically connect with feminine energy, then try Black Moonstone, Rainbow Moonstone, and/or Selenite.
If you are looking to specifically ease releasing negativity, then try Blue Aragonite, Celestite, Kiwi Jasper, and/or Scolecite.
If you are looking to specifically bring more self-love, then try Light Green Calcite, Hypersthene, and/or Malachite.

Rose Quartz vs Pink Amethyst

Rose Quartz is another pink variety of Quartz, but it has its differences. While Pink Amethyst gets its color from Hematite, Rose Quartz gets its color from iron, manganese, and/or titanium. Pink Amethyst is also rarer, only currently being found in Patagonia, Argentina, so it will also be more expensive. Rose Quartz, on the other hand, is quite popular and easy to find, coming from places like Brazil, Germany, India, Japan, Madagascar, Namibia, South Africa, and the USA. It is usually much more affordable as well.

While both crystals attract love (self-love especially) and deal with feminine energy, Rose Quartz dives deeper into the relationship aspect of it, and Pink Amethyst branches to self-care and rest. Rose Quartz can be used to attract romantic and platonic love by improving your relationship with yourself. It can teach you to hold love for everyone and everything, dropping grudges and opening up space for compassion. Pink Amethyst can also heal the heart and mind, bringing serenity and compassion, although it works more internally. This can help you embrace your nurturing side for yourself, helping you sleep peacefully and reminding you to take time to rest and rejuvenate.
