Evil eye amulets are tools for protection and warding.  To explain what the amulets truly symbolize, we must first discuss what evil eye is. Evil eye is believed to be a curse transmitted through a malicious glare (typically from envious strangers, though it could come from anyone), manifesting itself to undo one's good fortune, inflict injury, or even cause death. Evil eye amulets, sometimes also called evil eye, are said to ward off this danger and protect their user. The belief of the evil eye and use of evil eye amulets spans across millennia, with the earliest iterations being found in 3300 BCE Mesopotamia, or present day Syria [1], and 1500 BCE Mediterranean [2], but these beliefs have been found across the globe.

Typically, these amulets are portrayed as bright blue eyes, or nazar (Arabic for "sight")[6], popularized by indigenous people and folk societies in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. However, there are many depictions amongst different cultures throughout history, even finding a place within religious texts such as the Bible and the Quran.

There are also methods of which to check that your amulet is doing its job.

Are There Precautions To Take When Getting Or Wearing An Evil Eye?

For a jewelry piece associated with belief and potency as strong as this, it is not amiss to be careful when trying to get one. Many important questions require answers before you can get one, and the most important of them is, can you buy evil eye jewelry for yourself?

There is a belief that the power of the Evil eye increases if someone who is truly worried about your safety gets it for you. But this does not mean that you can’t get one for yourself. It just means that you might not be accessing the full power of the jewel piece.

Another question, especially for people who wear their evil eyes as bracelets, is what hand should they wear the evil eye on?

The answer is that both wrists are safe, but wearing it on the right has a different symbolism than wearing it on the left. The right wrist helps with career and finances because the right side of the brain deals with productivity. On the other hand, the left side will help protect you in the creative, emotional, and interpersonal realm.

What Happens When Your Evil Eye Breaks

It is a piece of jewelry and will break, but the evil eye breaking could have a different meaning for the wearer. If your evil eye breaks, it means that you have successfully warded off so much negative energy that it breaks. However, this isn’t entirely good news as the implication is that you were surrounded by so much negative energy. If your evil eye breaks, you should replace it as soon as possible.

Final Words: Does The Evil Eye Work

The evil eye is supposed to protect you. It is like a lucky charm, and it is probably, the origin of all lucky charms. It protects you from negative energy and could even help with other areas of your life, depending on the color you get.

But does it work? Evidence shows that there might be some truth to this agelong story. However, whether the evil eye protects you from evil or not, there is no doubt that it is an excellent fashion accessory and will add to the beauty of your get-up. It is also a confidence booster as nothing boosts confidence more than the thought that you have added protection. Go ahead and get that evil eye jewelry; it is worth it.

[5]

Do you ever have that fear where your happiness or love may vanish all of a sudden? If that sounds familiar, you must have an idea about the evil eye concept. It is based on how people may feel jealous or envious of someone.

Anyone can eye your possession, and radiate a negative and harmful aura around you. For example, in several cases, someone’s business crashes down due to the evil feelings of a jealous person.

To keep these evil thoughts or feelings at bay, people use the evil eye to protect themselves.

Most people around the globe believe in the evil eye. They believe in the concept that someone can unintentionally harm or wish you ill, and evil-eye can protect you from it. It acts as a guard, and people around South Asia, Europe, Africa, etc., generally hang the evil eye in their homes.

We Indians call it “Nazar Dosh,” and wearing or having an evil eye can protect us from such bad thoughts in the future. The evil eye consists of a bead that comes in specific colours, having individual purposes.

There are the following beads available:

1. Blue or Amethyst is for Intelligence

2. Red is for Courage

3. Turquoise is for Health

4. Light Green is for Success

5. Black is for Power

6. Pink is for Love

7. Green is for Happiness

8. Coral is for Protection

9. White is for Wealth

One can choose the colour of the bead, depending on what he wants.

Where to put Evil Eye?

1. According to Vastu experts, the best place to put the Evil Eye is to hang it in your home. The most common one is the Blue eye, which can protect your house from jealousy and guard your family. You can hang it on your entrance; it will automatically guard off all the bad energies entering the house.

2. The living room is one such area where everyone stops before entering further into your house. Placing the Evil eye on the shelf or hanging it as a decorative will help transform all the evil eyes into a neutral or positive one.

3. Evil eye jewellery has gained a lot of popularity nowadays. It is trendy as well as it will protect you from all the bad vibrations and give you mental peace. You can wear a necklace or bracelet. However, please don’t wear it on your ankles.

4. Gardens are another great place to place a beautiful evil eye artifact on a tree or plant. Don’t face it southwards, though. Putting it in the garden will accumulate all the positive and peaceful energies leading to a harmonious environment.

5. Offices, it is seen in my many workplaces or on the desk. The direction to place the evil eye is critical too, don’t let it face in the south. People also hang an evil eye on the rearview mirror in their vehicles.

Additionally, contrary to popular belief you should remember that gifting an evil eye may lead to unfortunate events. So, it's always wise to be careful.
